If you've been searching for home automation costs in Bangalore, you've probably found very little that's genuinely useful. Most companies don't publish pricing. The few that do give ranges so wide — "₹1 lakh to ₹1 crore" — that they tell you nothing. We're going to do better.
This guide breaks down actual project costs by tier, what's included at each level, and what pushes the number up or down. These are real figures from our own project history — 650+ installations across India over nine years.
A note on these numbers: All figures are approximate and as of 2026. Costs vary based on home size, platform choice, brand selection, site conditions, and the scope of civil work required. The ranges here are based on completed projects — not showroom estimates.
The three tiers of home automation
Tier 1 — Starter system (₹1-5 lakhs)
This covers a studio to a 3BHK apartment with lighting control in 3–5 rooms, 2–3 AC controls, motorised curtains in the living room, and a mobile app. Usually a wireless system. Typically 1–3 weeks from Bill of Materials approval to handover.
What's typically included: Smart switches in key rooms, AC integration via IR , one curtain motor, mobile app setup, and basic scenes — Good Morning, Evening, Away.
What's usually not included: Human Centric Lighting, Security cameras, video door phone, entry automation, distributed audio, or a home theater.
Tier 2 — Mid-range system (₹5-15 lakhs)
Full lighting automation across all rooms, complete climate control, curtain automation in all rooms, distributed audio in 2–3 zones, basic security integration, and a smart video door phone. Suitable for a large 3BHK, a 4BHK apartment, or a smaller villa.
What's typically included: All rooms automated, 4–6 audio zones, 1–2 security camera zones, smart lock on the main door, video door phone, and a living room home theater setup.
Tier 3 — Full villa system (₹15-80+ lakhs)
Large villas, bungalows, and homes where automation is built into the structure from the beginning. Full wired KNX or Control4 system. Human Centric Lighting throughout. Comprehensive security — ANPR, 16+ cameras, full intrusion detection. Gate automation. Dedicated home theater. Multi-room audio in 4+ zones.
The upper end of this range covers reference-quality dedicated home theater installations combined with the full automation and security stack.
| Tier | Typical project | Cost range | Timeline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 2BHK / 3BHK apartment | ₹1–5 lakhs | 2–4 weeks |
| Mid-range | 4BHK / small villa | ₹5–15 lakhs | 6–10 weeks |
| Full villa | Large villa / bungalow | ₹15–60 lakhs+ | 10–16 weeks |
| Standalone theater | Dedicated theater room | ₹10–80 lakhs+ | 4–16 weeks |
What drives the price up
Wired vs wireless
Wired systems — KNX, Control4, Crestron — cost 20–40% more than wireless equivalents for the same scope of work. They're more premium and reliable long-term. It requires planning right from the stage of a new construction and if planned right — the infrastructure will outlast any platform you install on top of it by 20 years.
Wireless systems are excellent for for most apartments where opening walls isn't practical. The platform has highly matured in the last decade and reliability is not meaningfully different from wired in well-designed installations.
Platform choice
Savant and Control4 systems carry a higher cost than platforms like JR Automation or Evolix wireless, but they give you a wide array of customisations and more robust integration with professional AV systems. For a home where you're spending more than ₹20 lakhs on automation, the platform premium is worth it.
Scope of integration
Adding security cameras, ANPR gate recognition, a home theater, or structured network cabling to a basic automation project roughly doubles the cost. Each additional system brings its own hardware, programming time, and commissioning requirements. The good news: these integrations are most cost-effective when done together as part of a single project rather than added later.
Civil work required
If conduit needs to be laid in existing walls — for a wired system in a retrofit project — civil costs can add ₹1–3 lakhs or more depending on the size of the home and the scale of the work. This is one of the largest variable in wired vs wireless pricing, and it's why we always do a site visit before finalising a quote for any project.
What's typically not in the quote
A few things that are sometimes missed when comparing quotes:
- Civil and electrical work: Conduit laying, power point/socket additions, and electrical panel modifications are usually quoted separately by your electrical contractor, not by us.
- Interior design integration: If switch plates need to be custom-made to match a specific finish (brushed brass, custom colour), that cost is typically additional
- Annual maintenance: We offer annual system health checks. These are priced separately from the project.
